Discover how Yoga for BJJ helped a UK athlete recover from injuries and manage stress. Real testimonial from a 4-year BJJ practitioner.
Hi, my name is Frank. I'm 36 years old and I'm from the United Kingdom. I've been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for around four years now. As all our gyms closed, I was kind of left hopeless with no training and the camaraderie between friends there wasn't really existing at this time.
I was looking for things elsewhere that could help with coping with the stresses of my work and daily life around it. Unfortunately, with the lockdown and the closure of the BJJ gyms, I started to relapse on my mental health. I suffer with complex post-traumatic stress disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder. So every day is kind of a running battle.
So I stumbled across Yoga for BJJ. I signed up for the pandemic special. I didn't know what to expect by it. Fortunately, it kind of helped me with rehab towards my past injuries.
I have really sore shoulders all the time since being young. Yoga for BJJ helped me get my life back on track, kind of. I worked hard towards gaining more flexibility than I had before. It kept me structured.
Every day I would be training even short 10 minute sessions after work when I was stressed. It helped keep my mind kind of stable at that time.
